Scouts in the UK want to make the lives of people in our communities better.
When half a million people pull together for a common cause, we make a huge impact.
We engage in campaigning work to protect and promote the interests of Scouting and its members.
Campaign victory
One example is the success of our Stop the Rain Tax campaign. We protected Scout Groups from rises in water bills which, in some cases, would have threatened their very existence.
We organised a mass lobby of Parliament – the first time we’d taken such action, and encouraged Scouts to lobby their MPs. This local and national drive sealed the victory of the campaign.
Influence the issues
Our national Public Affairs and Campaigning Team regularly respond to Government consultations on behalf of the Association.
Our Scouts Speak Up events give those inspired by Scouting the chance to talk to MPs. The events are entirely youth led and give young people the opportunity to debate with politicians on the issues that really matter to young people today.
