Hillwalking or Climbing 2020
Training, Assessment or Experience weekend

Following the guidance from the Scout Association regarding COVID-19, we have taken the decision to cancel our Spring courses.
We are however still taking bookings for the October weekend in the hope the situation will improve and we will be able to run training and assessment courses later this year.

17th/18th October.

Venue: Bethesda, North Wales.

Hampshire Scouts Mountaineering team have organised several weekends in 2020 for those wanting to gain their Adventurous Activity Permit in hillwalking, climbing or just attend gain experience in either of these, they are is open to all members of the Scout Association aged 18 and above.

The training weekends will provide the training and guidance for those wishing to  aim for their assessment in the future and the opportunity for those with more experience to explore unfamiliar routes and gain log book experience.

For assessment for the Adventurous Activity Permit you will only need to complete one weekend where you will be assessed by a qualified mountain leader. The weekend is for those that feel they can satisfy the technical competencies laid out in P.O.R Chapter 9 and associated factsheets. The assessment will be in the form of an expedition normally and you will need to arrive fully equipped as a leader for the expedition.

The experience weekends are open to all members of the Scout Association aged 18 and above with no previous experience in mountaineering up to those wanting to start taking an active role as a mountain leader.

All courses are held over 2 days, Sat to Sun, and to get the most out of the weekend it will require you to arrive at the training centre on Friday evening.
