Gone Home – John Goble

Hampshire Scouting was sorry to hear that John Goble, President of 4th Chandlers Ford Scouts, had passed away recently. John’s funeral is on Friday 8th May at St Martin in the Wood Church, Queen’s Road, Chandler’s Ford, SO53 5AG, commencing at 12.15hrs. This will be followed by a private family cremation in Southampton.

The family has invited family, friends and anyone from the Scout Association to join them at the Masonic Centre, King’s Court, 81 Winchester Road, Chandler’s Ford, SO53 2GG, immediately after the church service. The entrance to the Centre can be found by turning into the Hill Way. If you plan to attend the wake, please let Ian Moran know so he can advise the family of the approximate numbers. Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, can be made to the Macular Society and should be sent to A.H. Cheater Funeral Directors, 122 The Hundred, Romsey, SO51 8BY.

John was 91 and had been in Scouting for a remarkable 82 years, starting as a Wolf Cub. He was Group Scout Leader of the 4th, as well as being very involved in Eastleigh Gang Show and Camp Warden of Cranbury Park.

Our thoughts and prayers are with John’s family, friends and Scouting colleagues.
