To Youth Members

Are you aged 14 to 23?

Do you want to champion the views of your peers and drive positive change at all levels?

Being a Youth Commissioner is all about championing the views of all youth members (aged 6 to 25) and getting their voice heard at all levels, representing your peers at Group, District and County meetings and events, as well as networking and sharing ideas about driving positive change in your Section, Unit, Group, District, County and even in the UK.

To Adult Volunteers

Why introduce County/District Youth Commissioners (C/DYCs)?
Following the appointment of the UK Youth Commissioner (and team) there has been a high demand for similar roles to be created at local levels throughout the UK. At YouShape 2015 the concept of local Youth Commissioners was discussed and an overwhelming number of participants said they were in favour of them. Details of the outcomes of YouShape 2015 can be found in the report available from www.scouts.org.uk/youthcouncil

Local Youth Commissioners can bring a huge number of benefits to local Scouting and can help lead the work towards our Youth Shaped strategic objective. They are not the end product of the strategy, they are an enabler and champion for the Youth Shaped work locally.

Local Youth Commissioners are appointed at either District or County level.
