Beaver Leader’s Log Chew – Saturday 1st March 2014
After having loads of positive feedback after last year’s Log Chew event we have decided to run it again.
For those of you who were unable to attend last year, the Log Chew is a day long event for ALL Beaver Leaders, assistant Beaver Leaders and non uniformed helpers, in fact anyone who has anything to do with Beaver Scouting. It was packed with useful hints, tips and information to top up our skills and knowledge as Beaver Leaders. Last year we covered such topics as ‘Little Pickles’, sleepovers, ceremonies and special events among others.
The cost of this event will be £2 per person, lunch will be provided, venue and timings to follow.
If there is any particular topic you would like us to cover, please do let us know by contacting Teresa Ginn.
Future Events
30 years of Beaver Scouting
In 2016 Beaver Scouting will be 30 years old. To celebrate this milestone there will be a County led Fun Day which will be held on Saturday 18th June 2016, at Lyons Copse, Sandy Lane, Shedfield.
Each District will be asked to supply a base for the day, to be run by themselves, their Explorers / Network Units or SAS. More details to follow as planning progresses.
H0014
H0014 planning is progressing nicely. Just a reminder that for one night only, Beavers are invited to camp overnight on Tuesday 12th August ONLY. Beavers should camp with their Groups; however, if this is not possible, for 12th August ONLY a special Beaver Base Camp will magically appear to make sure that all Beaver Scouts have the opportunity to camp overnight.
Beavers not wishing to camp will however still be able to join in the fun for Hampshire Calling Day on Wednesday 13th August.
Any ideas for activities you would like to see run for your Beaver Scouts on Hampshire calling Day are very welcome, just contact Teresa Ginn.
Other News
Captain Ketch Challenge
To celebrate the launch of our first Hampshire ambassador, every person in the County has the chance to to complete the Captain Ketch Challenge. The challenge has been designed by the Youth Council and the Programme Team, and should inspire young people to be active on their bikes as well as follow James’ progress on his global cycle ride.
To find out about James and his adventures in Scouting around the world, follow @captainketch on Twitter or visit http://www.jamesketchell.net
In order for Beaver Scouts to achieve the Captain Ketch Challenge, they need to complete 5 of the requirements listed below:
Once your Colony has completed the challenge, you will be able to apply for your badges by emailing youth.council@scouts-hants.org.uk. badges will cost £1 with the profits going to James’ chosen charity, ELIFAR, which helps disabled children and young adults.
