Clean for the Queen update

Oakley St Lawrence Cub Scout Pack

Basingstoke West

The annual Oakley Litter Pick and this year’s Clean for the Queen still went ahead despite the weather.

Oakley Cubs had 5 cubs and 3 leaders turning out along with some local villagers.  Dressed in our bright green tabards and armed with our litter pickers and empty rubbish sacks we set off for the next two hours.  Stopping for a short while to eat two packets of Akela’s biscuits.

Despite a couple of light snow showers we collected 5 sacks of rubbish with the Cubs turning it into their personal challenge how much rubbish they could each collect. The heavy items were put in the permanent bins around the village we passed them making it easier for the Cubs to carry their sacks.

We returned to the meeting point to enjoy tea, squash and cakes made and donated by the Oakley Community Church.

We had a good walk in the fresh air whilst helping the community and the Cubs are able to put this towards their Hikes Away activity badge and Our World Challenge Award Badge.

Good fun had by all!
