Scouting Heritage defines who we are, where we came from and shapes our view of the future.
There’s a wealth of Hampshire’s Scouting history being cared for by a team of dedicated volunteers, they are Hampshire Scout Heritage and are proud to talk to young members about our Scouting history and display items from their large collection of artefacts at any event that is taking place throughout the County.
The work of Hampshire Scout Heritage was started in 2007 after the celebration to mark Scouting’s Centenary, this was highlighted by most National Media and captured the imagination of our young members and also the general public at large.
Members wanted to know more about our history and suddenly people found Scouting artefacts which had been hidden away in their attics and garages which they started to donate to us.
This collection has grown to some 3000 plus objects and continues to grow each week added to this 50 volumes of badges has been catalogued.
What is our Heritage?
Everything pertaining to Scouting that can be collected.
Scouting memorabilia is not limited to cloth and metal insignia, uniforms and awards but extends to handbooks, magazines, photographs, records and many more objects and artefacts and even oral history.
A collection of scouting memorabilia is one of the many ways Scouting can be enjoyed, studied and passed down through Scout Groups or one’s family.
