World War 1 Centenary – Winchester Cathedral Service

Winchester Cathedral Service Friday 9th May 2014

Please let us now if you are attending

District input/attendance:

The Cathedral Service, by kind permission of The Dean, will have a theme of ‘Service and Reconciliation’ and be in the presence of Dame Mary Fagan our County President accompanied by Captain Christopher Fagan and the Bishop of Southampton The Right Reverend Jonathan Frost.

Overall suggested timings are:

– Arrival for service or take part in/visit the pre Service activities 6.45 pm.

– Departure time after Service and visit to post service activities 8.50 pm.

– Those actually undertaking the activities may want to adjust the above times to suit.

·         Cathedral Service times 7.30 pm – 8.20 pm.

·         Each District can seat 30 people in the Nave for the service.

·         The allocated 30 can be young people and leaders.

·         There will be ‘side seating blocks’ in the Cathedral to seat parents and others, if there are no spaces in the Nave when our young people and leaders have entered the Cathedral.

The day of the week, timings and capacities are the same as for our previous County Services in 2000, 2007 & 2012, so should all work out nicely, and clearly there may be additional seating available nearer the time when we are clearer of numbers for each District.

Can we ask that all Districts confirm to the undersigned their intention to attend this County Service and a guide for numbers by Friday 11th April
