Celebrating one hundred years of Cub Scouts…

A Year of Adventure 2015 and Cubs 100 birthday celebrations in 2016

TSA Website link

Between March and December 2015 we want Cub packs across the UK to get involved in adventurous activities each month. The Year of Adventure is all about giving Cub Scouts the opportunity to enjoy the excitement, exhilaration and challenge of adventurous activities.

It is very important that the young people have the opportunity to choose some of the activities they would like to do. With that in mind, we challenge you to run at least two activities with an adventurous theme a month! With your help we want as many leaders and Cub Scouts as possible to take part in the Year of Adventure.

A hard copy of this resource will be landing on your doormat in April 2015, alongside Scouting magazine.

Cubs 100 year, 2016

In 2016 we will commemorate one hundred years of Cub Scouts with local and national celebrations.

In 1916, the section we know as Cub Scouts was formed and within its first year 30,000 young people joined. Cub Scouts has grown to over 150,000 members who enjoy fun, challenge and adventure across the UK.

We will encourage Cubs to celebrate Our journey of adventure in 2016. Resources and highlights during 2016 will include:

  • The Cub 100 Badge and related merchandise from Scout Shops.
  • resource packed with activity ideas for leaders and Cub Scouts to use throughout the year.
  • Adventure camps that will encourage Cub Scouts to experience new adventurous activities. Cub Jam would be a brilliant for this event so book your spaces now!
  • Locally-organised ‘thank you’ events that recognise the millions of people who have made Cub Scouts a success over the past one hundred years. They will showcase and recognise the support of volunteers, parents and the community and demonstrate that Cub Scouts are at the heart of Scouting and the local community today.
  • The Promise Party: a national celebration that will include a Promise renewal, to be held on 16 December 2016 at 7.16pm (19:16) to commemorate the official registration date of the Cub Scout section.

To help with planning and organising these events, resources, support and planning ideas will be provided.

In the mean time, you can use this presentation to showcase how we will celebrate 100 years of the Cub section.
