Gone Home – Arthur Martin

Hampshire Scouting was very sad to hear that Arthur Martin, one of our Vice-Presidents, has passed away.

His funeral will be on Wednesday 9th November, 1pm at St Peter’s Church, Boyatt Wood, Eastleigh. Please wear uniform if you wish.

Maryam Orman, Arthur’s daughter, has asked if people can let her know if they are going, so she can estimate numbers.

Arthur lived a live full of adventure and service to Scouting, including working in Antartica, opening Scouting in the Falkland Islands, and being Field Commissioner for Hampshire and other Counties.

He attended our County Conference on 8th October, and in a letter to me the next day said how much he “valued the opportunity to bring myself up to date with the plans for further development of Scouting in Hampshire – splendid and encouraging”.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Arthur’s family, friends and many Scouting colleagues.
