First Response courses and e-learning

Leaders, managers and supporters in Scouting must hold a first aid qualification, the minimum level of which is the First Response course (module 10) run by the Scout Association. A higher level (known as a Full First Aid certificate is required for some adventurous activities. You can find out more here.

The current First Response courses are listed on the county website here.

There are a number of external qualifications which cover similar content, which can be compared against the syllabus – anything not covered needs to be covered by self study or similar.

Two of the most common certificates are the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) approved 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and 3 day First Aid at Work. We have produced some e-learning that covers the additional content. A printout of the last page can be given to the Training Adviser alongside the certificate.

    I an DDC in my district with responsibility for adult training. By the the end of the year we will have over 50 needing to update their 1st Aid.
    How can I achieve this satisfactorily during this pandemic .
