Request for Cub Scouts at County CS Leaders meeting 13.03

Invitation to Centenary of Cub Scouting Festival of Flags

Centenary of Cub Scouting Festival of Flags

Just to keep everyone updated re the above, invitations will go out from Ian Sims, County Cub Scout Leader, to all Cub Scout Leaders and Assistant Cub Scout Leaders (that are shown on Compass) over the next few days. They will be asked to let their ADC Cub Scouts know how many Cub Scouts & Leaders from sections will be attending and parading with flags – if no ADC (CS) then responses direct to Ian please.  We do not propose initially to restrict Districts to numbers, so please come back to Ian as soon as you can.  Districts can parade ‘as many flags’ as they wish and District Commissioners can lead their Districts with their ADC Cub Scouts.

The timings of the evening are as follows:

6.30 pm                Festival of Flags Parade forms up at Colebrook Street Car Park.

6.50 pm                Festival of Flags Parade leaves Colebrook Street Car Park

7.05 pm                Festival of Flags Parade arrives at Outer Close for salute & on to Cathedral

7.15 pm                Festival of Flags Parade enters Cathedral & flags add on to guard of honour

7.30 pm                Celebration Cathedral service starts

8.15 pm                Celebration Cathedral service ends, and exit Cathedral for non formal gathering.

8.45 pm                Everyone home.

At the County Cub Scout Conference on 13th March, Leaders were asked to select confident Cub Scouts as readers of either prayers or a Bible reading, also we need 6 Cub Scouts as flag bearers and escorts to lead Festival of Flags Parade (could be CS Gallantry/Meritorious Conduct Award holders) – see attached document for explanation. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE QUICKLY. Nominations to the undersigned please.
