August Bank Holiday Weekend, Thursday 27th August – Monday 31st August 2020

Venue: Laverstoke Park Farm , Overton, Hampshire, RG25 3DR

We have been asked again this year to support Children In Needs CarFest and are looking for volunteers to join our team supporting the staff, enjoying CarFest and having FUN!

All volunteers will be expected to contribute 24 hours over the 4 days either on wristband exchange or on the stand that we are running to promote Scouting.  The main attraction on the stand this year will be a CAVE BUS.  This might sound a lot but a CarFest day starts at 6am and runs until 10pm.  You will have plenty of your own time to enjoy everything that CarFest has to offer – the festival, the cars, the food and the bands.

This year, CarFest is opening to the public Campers on Thursday afternoon, so in addition, there will be activities on the THURSDAY evening which we have been asked to support.  The plan is that we supervise a ‘Scout/Pudsey Treasurer Hunt’ and assist with some sing-a-long type activities in the evening.

As the campsite is opening early this year, we need to be set up and ready to greet campers by 3pm on Thurs and we camp through until Monday morning.

We are looking for around 100 volunteers to help with the event.   Please share this link with scouting friends that you think would be interested in a weekend of hard work BUT amazing fun. Non-scouting partners are welcome to join you.

You will need to bring your own tent, but we have limited space so think small, unless you are prepared to share! Some of your fellow volunteers will cook breakfast for you and dinner can be arranged through an onsite caterer at a reduced rate. If you wish to sign up for the catering option, then I will send you the link to book separately.

T-Shirts are available at a small cost so that we can promote Scouting when we are on and off duty, but any Scout related top is acceptable. (NB: You can choose between a Hampshire branded one or a plain one, both will have the new logo.)

So, having read this, do you want to join us?

To register your attendance and tell us your availability and requirements, please complete one Google Form per adult attending – please note that volunteers have to be over 18 years old and due to the nature of the activity, it is preferred that under 18’s do not attend – the younger ones particularly get very bored by day three.

Each year we have been let down by people pulling out.  This gives us a real problem as we are working with the organisers to cover a large rota of duties.  We appreciate that people get poorly or family issues crop up, but by completing this form, you are committing to the weekend, just like you would a foreign holiday.

Sign up here:

We will be asking you for detailed information such as medical information, event preferences, food choices etc. nearer the event.

Any questions – please send them to – County Growth and Development Officer

Closing Date for volunteering is 18th August 2018

Be prepared… #skills for life
