Safeguarding in Scouting

It is the policy of The Scout Association to safeguard the welfare of all members by protecting them from neglect and from physical, sexual and emotional harm.

What to do if you have concerns

  • If you are unhappy with anything relating to your child’s time in Scouting you should raise it with your child’s leaders.  In the Scout Group you should speak to the Group Scout Leader.  If you wish, you can speak to the District Commissioner. You can obtain those contact details from the Hampshire Scouts County Office on 02380 847 847  which is open Mon-Fri 9 to 5.
  • There are also specially trained Safeguarding Awareness Coordinators in each District Cluster of the County who can provide safeguarding advice and awareness training.
  • Alternatively, you can always speak to the UK Scout Headquarters on 0345 300 1818.  This line is open 9am to 7pm weekdays and Saturday morning.
  • If you think any child is in immediate danger you should contact the police.
